Room Rep positions available in some grades

10/4/2024 7:04 am

Hello, parents.  Thanks to all who signed up to be room reps.  We could use a few more 4th and 5th grade parents to help out.  Again, your main task will be getting gifts for teachers and organizing an easy social gathering or two.  Please go to the link below to see which teachers still need room reps.  There will be a lot of support this year from the whole room rep team, too!  Thank you!

From the Assistant Principal: Playworks at Dallin

9/27/2024 7:10 am

Hello, Dallin Families!

We are excited to share that the Dan Kelly Foundation awarded Dallin Elementary a generous grant to bring the Playworks Recess Reboot program to our school. Playworks will provide hands-on training to our staff and students teaching strategies to create a positive recess environment where every child can participate and have fun. Additionally, it will enhance the work we do each day to support students’ social and emotional growth by extending it into recess through structured, safe, and inclusive play.

In their four days with us, Playworks coaches will introduce fun, structured games, recess routines and reinforce common expectations. Students will learn new conflict-resolution techniques that they can use to more independently handle disagreements that arise on the playground. “Rock, Paper, Scissors” is one I’m sure you already know and many of our students use. When students learn skills to manage these situations without adults stepping in, they build confidence and are better able to take responsibility for their actions, cooperate with peers and have more time for fun on the playground. Our goal is to ensure that every child feels included and comes back to class energized and ready to learn!

Arlington METCO at Dallin

9/27/2024 7:09 am

Hello Dallin Community,

We at Arlington METCO are thrilled to recommission our program at Dallin Elementary! With the support of our Superintendent, DEIBJ Department, and the Arlington/Dallin community, we're excited to kick off the 24/25 school year alongside all of you.

Our Elementary METCO Social Worker, Shayla Lowe, will be working closely with our Arlington METCO Dallin students in partnership with Dallin staff and the community. We're especially excited to launch our Lunch Bunches, where we invite our amazing Arlington resident friends to join in. Lunch Bunch is a time for students to build community and connection through fun, structured activities.

Our METCO Director, Richelle Smith, will also be around to check in with students and staff, ensuring that students are deeply connected to their school community through enrichment and engagement.

A special shout-out to our newly recommissioned METCO Champions: Principal Thad Dingman and Assistant Principal Samantha Karustis—we're excited to work alongside you!

Greetings From the Land of Lost Items!

9/27/2024 7:07 am

A friendly reminder to label your child's items. Our clothing rack is filling up and school has just begun. Common items left behind are sweatshirts/sweaters, jackets, lunch bags and water bottles. Grab some labels or a sharpie and make it easier for me to return items to your child.

The Lost and Found is located in the front lobby. Pop in after drop off to peruse items or stop by if you're volunteering for school activities and are in the building already.

Cheers,
Janet Huang - Lost and Found Coordinator

Room Reps needed

9/27/2024 7:03 am

Hello, parents.  More room reps are needed, but WAIT!  The opportunity is different this year.  Instead of managing communications as well as teacher gifts, this year, communication will not be the focus of the team.  Room reps will get gifts for teachers as well as organize an easy social event or two for the grade.  It's more of a grade team, than being room specific.  Please go to the link below to see which teachers still need room reps.  There will be a lot of support this year from the whole room rep team, too!  Thank you!

Arlington Eats Snack Program

9/27/2024 7:02 am

The snack program at our school, supported by Arlington EATS, provides snacks to any child who needs one so that there is no stigma attached to being hungry. With this as our guiding principle, we know we will feed kids who simply forgot their snack, are growing, are extra hungry or are from a family that is simply struggling to put food on the table. Once they have enough to eat, then they can get back to the work of being a student.

We need your support to keep this program going!  How you can help:

Policy Reminder: No Dogs on School Grounds

9/27/2024 7:01 am

Dallin Families:

We are asking for your cooperation. Dallin Elementary is a pet/animal-free campus per district policy. Families are welcome to wait with their child (or each other) during arrival, but animals should remain on Florence Field or the surrounding sidewalks.

We have students whose school day can be greatly affected by their morning arrival transition, and animals—dogs in particular—can unfortunately make a big, not-positive impact. Also, many of our student have allergies that may be triggered by contact with your pet.

This is a shared policy for all public buildings in the Town of Arlington unless noted otherwise or your animal is a service animal.

Thanks for your cooperation.
