Dallin Families on the Move: Running Together to Support Our Schools

5/23/2025 7:08 am

Last Sunday was a beautiful spring day - just perfect for running. And running is what many Dallin students and their families did as they participated in the Arlington Education Foundation’s (AEF) annual 5K. It was wonderful to see so many classmates, neighbors, friends and teammates from both Dallin and across town as they crossed the finish line at Hill’s Hill (the field next to the playground by the Ed Burns Skating Rink). Click through below for photos of just a few of the families and students who ran. A group of 5th grade boys trained together, with guidance from a few moms! Among them was Benjamin Steinberg who placed second in the “Male 12 and under” category with a blistering fast pace of 21:52!

It was a wonderful community event that also supported enriching Arlington’s schools. AEF works to support public education in Arlington by funding system-wide initiatives and creative new projects to enhance the educational experiences within Arlington’s schools. You can learn more about the types of awards and past funding HERE.

You can support AEF right now through the STARS program where you can recognize teachers and/or staff via a donation to AEF. Purchase your STAR certificates by May 31st to have them delivered to your honorees before the end of the school year. aefma.org/stars

Lastly, AEF is looking for a new school representative for Dallin. This person is a liaison between AEF and the Dallin community by helping to solicit grant proposals and keeping the community informed of AEF’s activities. School Reps play a crucial role in advancing AEF’s mission of supporting and improving public education in Arlington. If interested, or you have questions, please contact Joy Davison (jdanison@aefma.org)
