Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week with AEF STARs!

4/17/2026 5:58 am

Give a Dallin teacher or staff member a STAR Certificate by making a $20 donation to the Arlington Education Foundation (AEF) by April 26thwww.AEFMA.org/stars

Honor anyone in the Arlington Public School system who shines bright:  teachers, custodians, specialists, lunch staff, administrative assistants, nurses, or any other school staff!

Your AEF STARs will be delivered during Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

 Here’s how it works:

  • Each $20 donation purchases one STAR for the person you want to appreciate
  • You’ll have an option to add a short message for each certificate
  • Donate for as many STARs as you’d like!
  • AEF will create personalized awards and deliver them during Teacher Appreciation Week

AEF grants help teachers and students explore new ideas and bring inspiring projects to life. Discover more at aefma.org.

Lend Your Voice, Open A World!

4/17/2026 5:57 am

Do you have a few minutes and a passion for stories?

We are seeking volunteers to read and record chapters of The Hope Chest by Karen Schwabach to ensure all our students—including emerging readers and those who learn best through listening—have full access to their classroom materials.

Recording is easy! You can as many chapters as you would like and record from the comfort of your home using your smartphone or computer. We will have microphones available as well as an informational sheet with best read aloud and recording practices to guide you. Your voice will help improve vocabulary, boost comprehension, and foster a lifelong love of reading for students right here at Dallin and all of the elementary schools in Arlington!

This is currently a pilot program with hopes of expanding to ensure that every book in the EL Education Curriculum is available for ELA instruction and accessible for all students in APS.

Please complete this sign up and we will reach out shortly with further details.

Thank you!

Jacque Aureli (Dallin ELA Coach) and Melissa Maldonado (Dallin Librarian)

An Exceptional Expo!

4/10/2026 5:58 am

Congratulations to all the students who participated in this year's STEAM team sponsored Student Science Expo!  The event showcased ~65 projects led by over 100 Dallin student scientists and engineers - a record turnout that led us to use both the gym and cafeteria to display the many outstanding projects.  A huge thanks to those who organized the expo (Matilde Hastey, Rina Zelmann & Sunita Hett & Sam Karustis), Dennis Vivieros and the parents/caregivers who helped with set-up and clean-up and of course all the very supportive parents and caregivers who provided encouragement and showed up to support our students.  Such a fun evening of STEAM for all!

Teacher Appreciation Week 2026

4/10/2026 5:56 am

Get ready to rewind and hit play on one of our favorite weeks of the year—Teacher Appreciation Week 2026! This year, we’re throwing it back with a totally rad 90’s theme to celebrate the amazing teachers and staff who make Dallin all that and a bag of chips.

We’ve got a week full of fun surprises planned to show our gratitude, but we can’t do it without your help. It takes a village (and maybe a mixtape or two!) to make something this special happen.

Right now, we’re looking for families to:

  • Donate items from our Amazon Wish List to help bring the week to life

  • Volunteer a little time to help set-up or clean-up our teachers’ luncheon using SignUpGenius

  • If you prefer to purchase items from a different source other than Amazon (Grocery Store, Target, etc.) please bring the items to the Dallin Lobby beginning April 13th.

Let’s spice up their life (😉) and make this week one our teachers will never forget. We are so grateful to our incredible Dallin families for helping us show our appreciation in a big way.

Please note: the teachers’ luncheon will be on Wednesday, May 13th (technically the week after TAW)  so that teachers may all enjoy lunch together during their building-based professional development (and score a bonus appreciation day!).

Thanks for helping us make it da bomb! Any questions, please contact Kim at kimberly.settelen@gmail.com
